Before I get into the article, I have to say from my own experience how much web 2.0 and its free content sharing sites has increased my business.  I have a very affordable site of my own that I am in the process of perfecting.  But, having access to these free sites helps me to set up my presence online - branding myself as an expert and posting content in many different places.  The result of this is a synergistic marketing system that brings prospects to me.  You can do this, not only is it fun to do, especially if you like the subject you are writing about, sharing your good quality content with others is very gratifying- knowing that you are giving something beneficial to everyone.

How is it possible to post content online for FREE?  Using the web 2.0 tools allow anyone, even someone with no computer skills at all to write articles about virtually anything of interest online and share it with others, This new model allows you to share hobbies you like, teach about something you are good at, or even advertise your business.  Some of the sites you can use online at no cost to you are:  Squidoo, a blog, Ezine articles, etc. These are great ways to start building a prospect list on a shoestring budget, once you have started generating traffic and monetizing on them, (to be discussed in another article) then you can take your business to the next level and possibly purchase a full website if you want, or pay for other advertising to further grow your business.

I not only suggest you use one of these free sites, but use up to three of them, Oh I forgot to add YouTube - the video sharing site.  Unlike sharing content you can use video sharing sites to share content via video if you would like.  Anyway the reason I suggest using as many of these sites as possible to share your content is: The search engines begin to find you quicker pushing you up the search engines, because you are providing many articles within these sites usually 20 to 30 posts are good numbers.  You begin to establish yourself as an expert in your field, Finally, depending on the keywords you use in each article could take prospect to one of your sites, if you only have one location where you post your articles it would be harder to find you.

What is a blog?  I will give you a brief description of what a couple of these sites are and how they work.  A blog is very similar to that of an actual website, you can pay a small fee per month to have more control of your blog meaning the design of it and you actually own it.   Or you can go through Blogger, among other blogging sites and set up one for free.  The visual difference between a blog and a website is a website usually has pages within it that you can either link to or navigate to, whereas a blog deals with posting articles, it maintains its front page with the posted content of the day.

These posts are archived in the margin of the blog along with your opt in box or your profile etc.  Also with a blog you tend to post to it more often, sometimes 1 to 3 times a week whereas with a website a page is added not so often.  Finally, blogs allow your readers to post a comment on each posts you create- the number of comments you allow on your page is up to you, but this is good it shows you have a following when new prospects find you and view your blog.  Otherwise, you can have links; have an opt-in-box, etc. just like a web site.  The more you share content the more you become that blogger guy or gal.

What is a Squidoo?  When I first heard that terminology I said, “WHAT THE HECK IS A SQUID THAT’S A FISH”, well, I found out it was another wonderful way to post great content, and build my prospects list.  A Squidoo is much like a website and a blog, you share content for free however, in my opinion a Squidoo is much easier to set up and use.   Network marketers who have no experience with the web or doing business online, should start posting content with Squidoo, it is a great place to get your feet wet to start.  Search Engines love Squidoo’s so post lots of content their.  The Squidoo pages are referred to as lenses, the language goes like this “Hey everyone I just posted a lens on Squidoo about how you can get rid of wrinkles in 45 minutes.” Very cool, I love it; this makes it fun to use sites like Squidoo.

Just like a blog prospects can give feedback to each lens you post and you decide how many comments are posted on your page.  You cannot have an opt-in-box but you can create anchor text which re-directs your prospects to another website or perhaps a lead capture page.  A lot of sites will not allow this in the body of your article but Squidoo is very laid back with this.  Unlike a blog or website, Squidoo ranks your article based on the category your article falls into, which gives you an ideal of how popular your article is.

Finally, at the end of each article you write with Squidoo, there support gives you feedback on how you can improve or optimize your lens and encourages you to continue to write more in a fun way.  There is a lot more I can tell you about these sites, but I said enough to get you interested in checking them out.

How does using all these free websites build my prospects list?  As I expressed a little when I expressed my own experience with this, it’s kind of like networking but easier, you see the more people you talk too allows you to make a name for yourself.  The more of a good service provider you are sets you up to becoming an expert in your field.  Well when you use all of these resources, (I only spoke on two of these but there is a lot more) it is a form of networking and the more content you post to these sites the more popular you become.

The more of a service provider you are (giving your prospects something they need or something solving their problems) the more of an expert you become.  When your prospects see you have something to help them with a need, they will follow you wanting more.  You will have them opt-in to a sign in box, which gives you permission to keep in contact with them.  After that they will most likely want what you have to offer, (your network marketing opportunity) because now they trust you and believe in what you have to say and it is all because you educated them, you became their mentor, what a great way to create your down line in your own image.

Getting prospects to duplicate what you do makes for more consistency in promoting your opportunity, and makes more success for everyone within.  So go an start building your business using these sites, write about aspects of your business and what you have to offer your prospects, how you can help them with their needs.  Make 20 to 30 plus articles or videos and spread them all over the web, remember once they opt-in to your sign in box that gives you permission to keep educating and finally, offer your opportunity.  This is synergy, the perfect marketing system.
